For homeowners

You know what you want.
You just need someone who knows how to get you there.

Z. Domus Designs works with people who are serious about their homes…what they look like, how they function, and what it takes to get from vision to reality without losing your mind or your budget in the process.

What makes this different

There are a lot of designers who can make a room look beautiful.
Rose can also tell you exactly how it gets built.

That distinction matters more than most people realize until they’re mid-project. Design decisions made without construction knowledge create problems…materials that can’t be installed as specified, finishes ordered too late to hit a deadline, selections that look perfect on a sample board and wrong in context. Those problems cost money, time, and the confidence that the project is actually going well.

Rose Zefferino spent over two decades in construction before she founded Z. Domus Designs. She has managed projects from the ground up, coordinated trades, and watched what happens when design and construction don’t speak the same language. She built this firm so that her clients never have to experience that gap firsthand.

The result is a design process that feels different from the start: more informed, more organized, and more attuned to how your home actually comes together. Whether you’re building new on the Main Line or Bucks County areas, renovating in Coastal New Jersey, or transforming a city design that’s been waiting for the right attention in the Philly area, you’ll finish with a home that reflects exactly what you had in mind. And none of the surprises you didn’t.

You might be
in the right place if...

You’re not looking for a decorator. You’re looking for a partner.

You’re busy. Genuinely busy. You’ve built a life that doesn’t leave a lot of room for managing a design project on top of everything else. You want someone who will handle the details—all of them—and only bring you in when your input actually matters.

You’re making a significant investment and you want it done right. You’re not cutting corners, and you don’t want to be upsold on things that don’t serve your project. You want value, quality, and a designer whose recommendations you can trust because they’re grounded in real experience, not just what’s on trend.

You have a strong sense of what you want, even if you can’t always articulate it. You know when something feels right and when it doesn’t. You need a designer who can hear that, translate it into something real, and push back when a better option exists, not just validate every idea you have.

You want your home to feel like you, not like a showroom. Curated, personal, and livable: comfortably luxe™. A space that works for the way you actually live, not just the way it photographs.

You’re ready to start fresh. New build, major renovation, or a space that finally needs to become entirely yours…whatever the catalyst, you’re ready to create something that reflects who you are right now. Rose is exceptionally good at helping people build exactly that.

You already know what comfortably luxe™ feels like, and you want it everywhere you live. Many of our clients bring us into their second and third homes, from Stone Harbor to Palm Beach, once they've experienced it once. If you have a home outside the Northeast and want our process and results there too, let's talk.

The Studio
Experience

See it. Touch it. Know it’s right before it goes in your home.

Most of the anxiety that comes with a design project is about the unknown. Will this tile actually look right next to that floor? Will the cabinetry feel too heavy in that space? Will the finish hold up the way it should? The Z. Domus studio exists to answer those questions before they become expensive mistakes.

5,000 square feet of real materials, real finishes, real furniture, and real vignettes…all in one place, all available to experience in context. You’re not guessing from a 2-inch sample. You’re seeing how things actually live and work together. And you’re making decisions with confidence, not hope.

Not building?
Just ready for a change?

Our Custom Furnishings + Styling service is built for exactly that.

You don't need to be in the middle of a renovation to work with us. Some of our favorite projects are homes that are structurally complete but haven't yet become what they're meant to be. ZDD approaches furnishings the same way we approach construction design: with intention, precision, and access to resources you can't find on your own.

Custom furniture designed for your space. Trade-only fabrics and finishes. Artwork and accessories curated to feel collected, not decorated. Everything sourced, coordinated, and installed so your home feels comfortably luxe without feeling overdone.

This isn't about filling rooms. It's about finishing them in a way that reflects how you actually live.

What You Get Access To

Resources you can’t find on your own. Curated for your space specifically.

Whether you're building from the ground up or furnishing the home you're already in, Z. Domus gives you access to resources that simply aren't available to the general public: custom furniture makers, specialty material vendors, artisan fabricators, and pieces that won't show up in anyone else's home because they were designed for yours.

Your Designer

Someone who knows structure, materials, and flow, not just what’s trending.

Rose Zefferino doesn't just design spaces. She understands how they're built, what makes them function well, and what separates a beautiful room from a room that's truly right for the person living in it. Her construction background means she asks questions most designers don't think to ask, and catches problems before they ever become yours.

She's direct, organized, and deeply invested in outcomes. Her clients don't just end up with beautiful homes. They end up with confidence that every decision was the right one.

I came in knowing what I didn’t want and very little else. Rose figured out what
I actually wanted before I could articulate it, and then she handled everything
from there. The process was genuinely calm; no drama, no surprises, no moments
where I didn’t know what was happening or why. I walked into my home and it
was exactly right. I didn’t know that was possible.

A few things people ask

The earlier, the better. If you're building new or doing a full renovation, Rose's construction background is most valuable before decisions get locked in. Pre-construction is when she can influence the things that shape what's possible later: floor plan details, architectural elements, material specs. That said, we can come in at any stage. And if you're not building at all, just ready to transform the space you already have, our furnishings services work beautifully as a standalone engagement.

As little as you'd like. Most clients trust us to curate selections within the studio and only weigh in on the decisions that genuinely matter. If you'd rather be more hands-on, that flexibility is there too; some clients like joining us on vendor visits rather than reviewing curated selections in the studio. Either way, you'll always have final say on anything that matters, but we protect your time by only bringing you in when your input changes the direction.

We work directly with your builder or contractor throughout. If you've already hired one, ZDD coordinates with your team, communicates in construction terms, and makes sure design intent translates cleanly to the field. If you haven't selected a builder yet, we're happy to make introductions. We work with a trusted network across Philadelphia, the Main Line, Bucks County, and Coastal New Jersey. ZDD stays involved from selection through installation. We're available for site visits, trade coordination, and any design questions that come up during the build. You're not left translating between your builder and an absent designer. We're a part of the process, and we make sure nothing gets lost between the design and the execution.

It happens. ZDD is available to address field changes, material substitutions, or design adjustments as they come up. The goal is to keep the project moving without compromising the outcome. Our construction background means we can assess what matters and what doesn't, and help you make the right call in real time.

Furnishings are handled by the same team who already shaped your interiors, and honestly, who better? Our Luxury Furnishings + Styling service gives you access to trade-only resources, custom furniture makers, and pieces that won't show up in anyone else's home because they were designed for yours. Whether it's part of a full build or a standalone project to transform the space you're already in, we create interiors that feel comfortably luxe™, personal, and entirely yours.

Your home should feel exactly like you

Let’s make that happen.

The first conversation is a chance to talk through your project and get a feel for how we work. No obligation, no pressure — just a real conversation about what’s possible.

What a Late Tile Decision Actually Costs

Most renovation surprises aren't bad luck. They're the predictable result of design and construction working as two separate processes instead of one. Rose Zefferino breaks down what changes when your designer understands construction from the inside.
