A family in Devon bought a Main Line estate with strong curb appeal and deep architectural character: traditional stonework, established millwork, a landscape that had been growing into itself for decades. The interior told a completely different story. The previous owners had left their personality on every surface, and the layout worked against the way this family lived. The clients knew coming in that a major renovation was required. What they needed was someone who could see the home they wanted inside the one that existed.

Rose started with the architecture. A hallway between the great room and dining room was blocking natural light from moving through the house. The solution: interior windows modeled on the home's exterior architectural language, installed on both sides of the hallway. The dining room gained a built-in sideboard beneath them. The great room gained a writing nook, perfectly suited for a client who is an author. The kitchen was reimagined as a Parisian-inspired traditional space: dark walnut island with turned legs, black metal accents, integrated display for china and collected objects. In the primary suite, a full paneled feature wall resolved an off-center fireplace and concealed a linen closet as a hidden door. The lower level was transformed from a bar-driven theme space into a family recreation room anchored by an English-inspired lounge with dark paneling, a walnut countertop, and built-ins designed for bourbon and books.

A home that finally belongs to the people living in it. Architecturally cohesive from exterior to interior, functional in ways that support how this particular family lives, and personal without being literal about any of it.
